In the land of Cava

Summer has gone and harvest time begins. Over the hilly roads, many freshly picked grapes travel to meet their fate. I am driving through the Penedès in Catalonia, the home of Cava.
Mas els igols, a vineyard and artists residence is my destination. I meet Iris there.
When we first met, Iris was living with her family on a sailboat. Free and not attached to the ground, she was a nomadic artist. However, now she is anchored to the earth and to a particularly beautiful piece of it at all. When everything is new, history can be told anew again.
In the garden the figs, plums and tomatoes are ripening and it is also the time to produce the in-house cava. To think that living on the countryside is lonely are completely wrong in this case. The family is not alone here. This location has become a goal for many artists from around the world. They come to live, work and enjoy for a time.
In addition to everything else, Iris continues to teach her students in Barcelona and of course, is still an artist. For the first time she is working in her own large studio and feels that to be a great luxury, to have so much space to work in. Personally, I find the entire area like that and will love to come again.
