Walli Stecher / Bruneck

On the wall is painted simply the word coiffeur, which doesn’t jump right out at you but this is quite intentional. People find their way here anyway and so into Walli’s parlor. An unusual place in which the 17th century wall panelling and smoke house are still preserved. If there is no work going on here it is also place of encounter, for parties, readings, exhibitions and small concerts. Then Walli just fills the sinks under the old smoking hooks with ice and cools drinks in it.
On this particular day I see her cycling away. She balances a tray full of coffee cups on one hand and dog Ida on the other hand and I am happy that we are seeing each other  again. This time on a beautiful blue Sunday at her home.
There are the things that immediately catch my eye. Some other treasures, however, you don’t discover immediately. They tell of the things she loves. From a beautiful old box, Walli takes out the hat that belonged to her grandmother’s traditional costume. Having travelled far and wide, she has brought back a very affectionate view of the culture and traditions of her homeland.
The view through the green kitchen, with the fruit and vegetables sorted by colour, leads directly into the garden. There, on a large stone slab, the grilled courgettes are fragrant pictures
