Orange street

Edwin Severijn / Utrecht

Die sanfte Stimme singt: `Smile, smile, a simple smile when I see autumn leafs…orange colored trees,…falling leafs.´

Orange street

The soft voice sings: “Smile, smile, a simple smile when I see autumn leafs…orange colored trees…falling leafs.”
Edwin had given me a CD from his band Tilia as a gift, and I had immediately fallen in love with the first song. Some days have wonderful colors, this is a spring day with autumn colors and orange street was the perfect soundtrack. The trees were shining and facing the canal the lime green house of Saskia and Edwin is located. A house with a long history, including a past as a butcher’s shop and a beauty salon. The view of the town seen from the terrace is accompanied by the bells of the Church towers.
The centre of the living room is a large, inviting table. It is a gathering place for those who enjoy good food, because when Edwin is not playing drums, he is first and foremost a cook. We first met at the Dutch Design Week in the pop-up exhibition restaurant `Eat Drink Design´, when food, beverages and design were offered together in a historical setting. Edwin cooked there every evening, always wonderfully relaxed, for a long table of guests.
At home, in his ‘private restaurant’, he cooks using an old oven from the 19th century. During such evenings, the food and the atmosphere will definitely be very lekker!
